Haven’t updated in a while because I went bust on Stars after trying to rebuild the roll..I had to withdraw moneys so I could make a trip to GV..So anyways I got a stake to the 100K gur. today and finished 152nd for 200 bucks..Shipped 100 back to my staker, so now I have to just make it happen and keep playing/running well\
I ran like God in this tournament though..It was ridiculous..I was 3/3 in race situations..I had A10 beat AQ for a portion of my stack once, I got it in awful on a weird hand where the board was 10 10 2 4..I had A4 and guy had QQ, I rivered a 4…I put some guy all in after he completed the sb and had 5 BBs behind, I had KJ and he had KK and I rivered a straight looooooooool…That one was hilarious
My Stars froze at one point and it killed my entire time bank which blew ass..There was one spot where I was getting about 2:1 with KQ after I opened from the button and I think I would have ended up calling..Blah, that hand blew..Despite how deep I got, the players were still God awful..Final hand I had Q8h, an M of 4ish and 4 people behind me, only 2 of which covered me, so I jammed it and one of the guys that covered found AK..Unfortunate, it was a good spot to steal there too..
Anyways, hopefully I’ll be able to have a few more posts now, and hope all is well with anyone that posts/reads here
So I played the $10 6 max tourney last night on Stars and couldn’t believe how bad the players were..Maybe because it was a Saturday night, but my tables were a mixture between lagtards and weak/tight nits..I got off to a rockin start after stackin a lagtard in 2 hands which I thought I played really well
The 2nd one I had KK in the bb and 2 limpers and SB completed, so I popped it up about 6x…Lagtard called, flop was Q75 or something ragged, I bet 3/4th pot, he calls..Turn was a 9, I bet almost the pot again and he about min raised me, I decided to call since he was most likely full of shit and had either air or some sort of bad draw..River was a blank and I decided to check to him and let him either hang himself or take a relatively cheap showdown..He jammed it and I called, he was too laggy for me to fold there and he showed 8 10..
Afterwards I ran into some donkey who gave me some troubles..He was directly to my right and I opened from UTG about 4 times and he flatted every raise and floated every c/bet..So then this hand happened
IhaveNolife24182 (11:58:18 AM): i opened qjs utg, the bb was a huge donkey who kept flatting all my raises
IhaveNolife24182 (11:58:59 AM): so we take a flop hu, pot is 450, flop is j10x, 2 h..he checks, i bet 300 i think, he calls
IhaveNolife24182 (11:59:10 AM): turn is another jack, he checks, i bet like 700, he calls again
unkysimba (11:59:32 AM): oh hell
IhaveNolife24182 (11:59:37 AM): river is an 8, he checks, i fire like 1200 or so in there, he goes all in for 3K total, i begrudgingly call, he fliips q9 os over
IhaveNolife24182 (11:59:43 AM): nice play sir, you fuckin douchbag
So then I built back up again, taking most of my chips back from him when he tried bluffing me and I snapped that off
Until this hand..
so then i build back up, button raises to 600 at 75/150, im in the sb with 88 and the bb is sitting out(which greatly extends his range here)
unkysimba (12:00:57 PM): agreed
IhaveNolife24182 (12:01:02 PM): so i made it 1800, he has like 2700ish i thnk after his pf raise so i commit myself to his stack
IhaveNolife24182 (12:01:16 PM): he makes his stand with a7 and rivers an ace
Once again build back up, snapped off another button raise with a9 and somehow out ran his j10 when he decided to make a stand when he wasn’t pot committed..People are idiots
After that I got moved to another table, which sucked cuz I had solid reads and knew exactly who I could steal from..Anways, this table was really nitty, so I was still stealing once an orbit..I made one good play when I opened J10 os in the CO and the BB flatted me..Blinds were 200/400, I had about 10K to start the hand, he had about 8K I believe..So he flats for 1200, flop is K 6 3 R I think and he leads out into me for 1200..This looks ultimate weak to me and hes got enough behind that I have fold equity w/out shoving, so I make it 3.2 K and he folds..Money bubble bursts shortly after that when my bust out hand happens..
IhaveNolife24182 (12:02:59 PM): so i have like 12K, blinds at 300/600, utg opens for 2400 and hes one of the tourney CL’s
unkysimba (12:03:27 PM): gotcha
IhaveNolife24182 (12:03:34 PM): i have aqs in the sb and really dont have much of an option here..flatting sucks my left nut, no other raise makes sense, and folding is so weak tight in a 6 max tourney against one of the CLs
IhaveNolife24182 (12:03:43 PM): so i jam it, he snap calls with kq
IhaveNolife24182 (12:04:00 PM): flop kjx and i miss my 7 outter
And that was that…I got dealt really good hands in this tourney and got paid on a lot of my good hands because its 6 max, but I got sucked out on 3 major pots so whatever..Not much ya can do, I felt I played really well and didn’t spew a lot..I’m really trying to avoid playing OOP unless I’m 3 betting/jamming any flop..I did a good job of that yesterday, along with controlling pot sizes with my raises to make comfortable bets/shoves..Good tourney all in all, despite the lack of big cash
This is like the 2nd hand of a 10 dollar HU sng..I’m OK with spewing a bit in the beginning to establish the image I want..But I literally laughed out loud here

Alas, I finally managed to shrug off variance and bad play and won a 4.40…I sucked out massively once, got sucked out on numerous times and won a 55/45 post flop situation on the final hand to take it down…Just a roller coaster of a tournament though.. I’ll probably post some specific hands after going through the HH later…I’m still in a the 20K gur., ITM actually..I’ve been pretty much a nit the whole time..
I haven’t decided what I’m going to do with the money..I want to visit my old school over spring break and I need to pay my cell phone bill..Also I have a buddy turning 21 next week, so who knows..I’d like to keep the moneys on and try to build a little, but I don’t think thats possible
An extremely frustrating weekend of poker..I’m running like shit..Keep losing 65/35s and 80/20s, its infuriating..On top of that, I’m spewing a lot in early levels of Mtts, I need to cut that out..Too much limp/calling with small pairs set mining..I find myself with 1100 chips by 25/50 way too often, just playing spewy..It sucks because I finally don’t have any homework to do and I could put in some real time on the tables, but its just a lost cause when running this bad..
This is just so sick and frustrating..This donk has like 87872 lives

Haven’t updated for a while..I final tabled a 4.40 on Tuesday earlier this week and took 4th because of 2 disgusting beats..I flipped out and threw a cup and and kicked shit, it was bad lol..First one, some donk made it I think 5x in late position with probably 15 BBs behind, and SB reraised like half his stack and I shipped it in the BB with KK…Late position raiser insta ships it in and SB calls obv..LP had 99 (fuckin idiot) and SB flips up QQ…9 in the door…that pot woulda put me in first place, with 3 players left..So then I have like 25K left , and in a blind battle flop came J 8 3, 2 dia…SB bets, I raised to like 8K, he calls…Turn is a 7 of dia, he checks and I have like 1 PSB left, so I ship it in..He calls with 10 8, no dia, and hits his 6 outter..I had J7, no dia..Just so frustrating
For the most part I was a card rack, especially in the 2nd hour..It was nice..I actually wanted to bust out of the tourney in the first hour..I took a bad beat in another one I was playing and went on mega tilt and started open shoving a 25 BB stack lol..Fortunately I found a race one of the times I did it and then built back up right before break..Strange tournament I tell ya
So that was Tuesday and I haven’t played another MTT or MTT sng til right now..I have been crushing HU sngs..My “raise 100 percent of the hands on the button 3x” strat works so well at the 5 and 10 dollar level..People play sooo bad post flop OOP..The only people I have problem beating are the ones who fold to every one of my raises except when they 3 bet me..
I have an internship interview at Allstate in 2 weeks that I’m super excited about..It would be a great opportunity and I’ll live at home and save a ton of money..Also there are some casinos that are a drivable distance so thats what I’ll probably do on the weekends..I think I should be able to beat 1/2 NL but we’ll see
Hopefully I’ll have an interesting hand or result to post after these 2 4.40s, we’ll see..

Ok so I think this post could be beneficial to some 4.40 players out there, so I’m going to go through my thought process that occurred after this hand..This was in a 4.40 I played last week, the one I final tabled..I find I will think about hands that I’m unsure about for good portions of time after they happen, because honestly, they are pretty rare..Most tournament situations are pretty straightforward since they are dictated by small stack sizes and identifying a quick range..However, I made a mistake in this hand because I didn’t have a plan..This is such a key concept for any hand you are involved with, and usually I do a pretty good job of this. However, I put myself in a really tough spot here..
OK here is some background info..SB had reshoved on me once previously, and also he doubled me up when he flatted my CO raise on the button and we got it all in on the turn of a Q1087 board or something, I had q10, he had KQ, and I bet flop, shoved turn..BB for the most part is pretty tight..He did however, make a strange, bad play earlier when he limped A4 in MP with a low M..He got a raise from a Laggy player behind him and shoved with no fold equity..They split the pot, Laggy player had A6…I probably have a semi laggy image, but nothing crazy
Bolded stacks are ones involved

Now what I should have done before the hand is made a plan..I
should have said to myself “Ok if I’m entering this pot, I
am committed to Combos stack or I am folding to his reshove.
However, I didn’t think about it and just raised my standard
2.5x raise and when he reshoved, I had literally no idea what
to do..I was getting about 1.88 on my call, which is a little
short on odds IMO for his range, but for meta game purposes,
it might have been worth a call to show people I’m not raise/folding
when someone has 10 BBs..Also, I could have altered my PF
raise to something like 3x or 3.5xish to show Combo that he
has no fold equity with a push, and might discourage him from
jamming Ace 6 on my ass..The only problem I see with that
play is I’m risking more when it comes to the SBs stack if he decides to jam on me, who
I’m folding to no matter what raise I make..
Obviously its not really easy to do all the pot odds/range
assignments in a hand before it happens, but I should have
gotten a rough idea before I made the raise..Honestly, if
I were to do it again, I might just open fold it since I’m
putting myself in such a marginal spot if/when BB reshoves
on me..In hindsight, I think I should have probably made the
call, but I’m still not clear..
The point though of this post is to have a plan..It will help
make your decisions easier and you have a legitimate reason
for doing whatever you do..
Bond here touches on the idea in a more succinct thought
process and he has better results obv, but the point is
ask yourself if your raising for value, bluff, semi bluff,
and not “for information” like retarded poker books tell you
I finally final tabled a 4.40 for the challenge..I’m pretty happy about the way I played and finished fourth..I ran into a pretty tough luck spot with AQ on the button..I had 54K and was in 3rd place, with the CL in the BB and he had 116K…He was opening a lot of pots but not really playing back at people a ton, but he was pretty laggy..The SB had 21K and the other guy had 78K but was a huge nit…Blinds were 2/4K, so stacks were super shallow and I opened for 10K on the button and the BB min reraised me..I figured all my options were available, but flatting for 6K more and folding UI kinda sucks with a hand I probably am gonna want to see all 5 with…So I narrowed it down to shoving and folding, and decided to shove considering how shallow stacks were..AQ is pretty strong 4 handed, especially when I open from the button, although I probably had a fairly tight image…Anways, he turned over AK and it was gg me…Door card was an ace so if I flatted, we were getting it all in anyways, but maybe folding is correct, who knows..
Since it was a stake, I shipped 50% to Beave and now I’ll try to make do w/ the roll I got..Won’t be the first time and won’t be the last I work w/ a limited roll so time to make it reign basically
