This week has been pretty lame.
started off poorly, which is why i havent kept an update. I try not to remember the bad beats.
anyways, after a poor start, I managed to climb back and am down 1 buy-in this week.
Because I managed to pull out some wins the last few days, I decided to play the 130.00 +50 add on tournament at the venetian.
There was 58 players, I played great until we were down to 30 player, and I had the following hand.
I had a stack of 10.5k and made a raise from Middle position with 7,7.
blinds were 100/200 i raised to 700.
button called and Big blind called. flop was Q,3,4 with two hearts. BB checked, i bet 1200. button folded and BB called. BB had about 4k left.
turn was a 7 of clubs. my perfect card, or so i thought. BB checked, I went all in and he insta called and showed 5,6 for the straight. I had 10 outs to make my fullhouse or quads, but missed and he doubled up through me.
I was cold carded for another hour, and we were down to 18 players and I pushed and ran into pocket aces. The aces held up.
Met up with JC Alvarado, aka prtypsux at venetian yesterday. we just shot the shit over some beers. He seemed like a very easy going dude, and I hope i can utilize his skills to help better my game.
Going to take tomorrow off , also starting some tai-chi/yoga classes. should be good.
Well, I guess I can make a post about my day to day. Is safe to say that i’ll never be able to work a regular job again.
So today went like every other standard Vegas day. I woke up around 11am. ate breakfast, went and grabbed a fresh juice smoothie, (i dont buy lattes or coffee anymore, since they are FREE while playing) I live 10-15 mins from the bellagio. I usually park there or Venetian. depends where i’m going to play.
Rolled into the venetian to play a bit. played for 2 hours, nothing exciting. Just played very aggressive in position and hammered pots when i was heads up. I made +217
Then i went to the mall to buy some new sunglasses. Picked up some new RayBans and some clothes. Went home to eat, and watched Rush Hour 3.
8pm rolled around, and i decided i’d go play some more. went back to venetian and played for about 2 hours again and finished +190. so +407 on the day. I cracked aces with 2d,5d. He played the aces horribly though.
Then i noticed that they were spreading a High limit game around the corner, so I watched a bit. It was a 4000/8000 stud game. Ivey, Greenstein, Benyamine, and Alezra I recognized. I wasnt sure who the others were.
Decided to eat at the Luxor Cafe, (the breakfast sandwich is the shit) chilled for a bit then headed home. Thats basically a average “work”day for me.
And it never fails while i’m playing, someone always asks”you live here? wow, how is it?” I honestly cant say yet, but so far its great!
Today felt great. although i didnt make much, I was up and down for 4 hours. until the 5th hour i finally got back up, and finished off +207.
I didnt get any real hands all day, I made plays on people and exploited weak/passive players.
I had one guy on my left tell me, “everytime i try and play a hand you’re in you seem to keep hitting”. even though we never went to showdown and I never actually had any hands vs him.
Another cool thing today happened. A new player came to the table, he looked like the only person at the table who actually knew what he was doing. I watched him scan the table, and start shuffling. when he made a raise he broke down chips with confidence and experience. Just like a dealer.
I made a few plays and good calls in some pots. he got up to leave. he grabbed his chips and walked over to me and said, “hey man, good playing with you” so I introduced myself and asked if he was a dealer? he said, Yea, he used to be a dealer, and he thought i played really well.
Although I thought that i was the best player at the table, it was a good boost in confidence to hear that today.
going to try and play as much as i can without exhausting myself over the next few weeks. stay tuned.
also, GSP dominated Hughes tonight in UFC 79. soo sweet!
cheers
first things first, Played the 150.00 daily noon at Venetian, had Doug Lee at my starting table. If you don’t know who he is, just google his name. He is a pro player from Canada, and won event #8 at the WSOP in 2005.
He busted after 1 rotation. lol. I played “Ok” until the 3rd hour. I had 15k in chips, blinds just climbed to 400/800 with 75ante. Even tho i needed to double, i was still around average.
I couldnt pick up any hands, so i made a few steal attempts that went horrible.
1st i made a move in early position since i had a tight image. sb who was short stack pushes with AQ. I didnt realize how short sb was, so i was forced to make a call. I lost that.
I made a move in my SB, a rotation later, it folds around to button who limps. i make a big raise with Q,10 and BB wakes up with aces, he calls, button folds. I’m out next hand, GG me.
I really wanted to play well today, but I wasnt on my game. I woke up late, rushed to get there, felt like i had played too much poker the past week, and wasnt feeling it. Going to take some time to relax a bit. might not play any more tourneys until after christmas. Will stick with some cash games to keep my BR building going. happy holidays

So, vegas is still going well. I love playing live, and the ability to move from poker room to poker room is pretty cool.
After a great weekend with the FCP’ers, a few of us decided to play a 150.00 MTT at caesars.I felt great and had a great read on the table. after starting wit 5k, I built my stack to 9.5k by the 1st hour.
I really wanted to Final Table this tourney, but unfortunately I got coolered with set over set, was crippled and soon out.
nothing i could really do. Took some time off from cards in general, went to a gun range for the 1st time to shoot an M-16 and a 9mm. was nervous at first, but can add it to my list of things I’ve done.
Played some 1/2NL at venetian today, and ran very very cold all day. finally picked up some pots and finished the day +207. Will try playing the venetians noon 130+15 which gives you 7,500 chips with 30 min levels. Very good structure for a daily live tourney.
cheers all.
Last Post from previous blog:
So, as i mentioned in the last post, i chopped 1st in a 60.00 MTT at Planet hollywood. (its the grinder tourney)
well myself and some fcp’er played it again, 140-ish players, and i took it down again.
we got heads up and decided to chop the 1st and 2nd money, 1st was 1,950.00 and 2nd was 1,300.00
plus an added 300 promo dollars to the winner. so we decided to play HU for the promo. I won that.
although
it was a nice cash, i had to pay out 300 to Ray (troyomac on fcp) since
we had a % of each other. he also final tabled but busted in 6th.
earlier
in the day i played at caesars 1-3NL, and managed to cash for $902. my
biggest cash game cash in a long time. felt sooo good.
since being
back from Australia, and playing fulltime in canada then to vegas I’m
up over 6k in my 1st month of starting to build a BR. which is such a
huge weight lifted since i have some breathing room to play a solid
game now.
