Howzit!

So im sure all of you know now that all the tournaments have been moved up an hour early. Now I am screwed. Prior to this “time change”. I normally would come home from work and have about 45 minutes to settle in before I put in my early morning session because I get off work at 4am Est. This session includes four tournaments. Full Tilt Poker $26 7k and the Pokerstars $33 10k both starting at 5am Est. Also I would play the $5r on Pokerstars at 5:15 and another $33 mtt on Pokerstars at 6:00. Now that everything has moved up an hour my session has been reduced from four to one! Sigh…I dont know what I’ll do. Maybe I should try to become a cash player? Grind 45man sngs? Keep in mind I’ll keep playing the $33mtt on Pokerstars at 6:00. We’ll see, I’m going to use the next couple weeks trying to find a comfortable grind. I know it’s not the end of the world, but any suggestions? I’ll definitely keep ya’ll updated. Goodluck to all and thanks for reading.

aloha,
jC

After closing out my best month of poker in January, I was entering February with a 4k BR and high expectations for myself. Maybe a little too big? First off I asked myself do I really need a 4k BR? After all I’m employed full time w/a fixed schedule that wouldn’t allow me to move up in limits. With that in mind, I decided to cash out and leave myself 2k to grind my normal early morning sessions. So heres a small little rundown of how my February went.

45man Sngs on Pokerstars is the route I’m taking to keep my BR afloat. I’ve been playing about 5/day and I’ve managed to bring in a nice little profit off of them. Theres also times where you go on a cold streak playing them and you just have to play it off. Twice i’ve gone without cashing from anywhere from ten to fifteen sngs. It can get really ugly. I just think that the bad runs will happen, you just have to keep a strong mind and you’ll get out of that rutt in no time.

On February 25th I managed to ship my second mtt win! It was again a rather small field of 207, but hey a win is a win. I’ll definitely take it. A week later (Feb. leap year) on March 4th I took 2nd of 207 in the same tourney. While HU I was a 2:5 to 1 dog. I picked up KQdd on the button I raised PF flop came K92. Villain checked I raised 3/4 pot and villain shoved. I called and turned up K9 for top2. I fail to improve on the river and gg me.

Okay so ya’ll got to hear about my highlights since my last post and now you’ll hear about the biggest leak in my game, which is $100nl. I’ve dropped about $500 within the last month or so playing which is verry bad. I know I dropped 3 buy ins, all on separate occasions when AA < KK, KK < AA, and AA < AQ. Those are just sick coolers that no one can get away from. The rest of my losses are just losing sessions that I’ve accumulated over the past month. I’m strictly a tournament player that has come a long way. I’ve earned my tournament winnings by dedicating hours and hours sitting at the table trying to win tournaments. It’s just ill to my stomach to see $100s of dollars leave my roll in seconds. From now on I’m going to be more careful and use better BR mgmt and I also cashed out again leaving myself with 2k to grind. This will be my last time cashing out as I’m going to try and build this BR the best I can.

Thanks you for reading and goodluck at the tables,
jC

ps- I sucked in the 4.40 challenge. I finished in the bottom 7. Congrats to our top 3 finishing teams/soloist.

**I’m not sure if anyone really pays attention to my blog, but I apologize for my 1month absence without a post.**

Howzit!

As I started out the new year, I was fortunate to have had a very good start. I had two 2nd place finishes within the first week of 2008 and that means two missed opportunities to bag my first online MTT win. Although I’ve won a few 180 sngs in the past, as for me I think taking down your first tournament means a lot more than that. So weeks went by and before I knew it, January was almost over. I’ve been playing my usual session in the early mornings with no final table, but finishing in the top 20 a few times.

On Jan. 29 I entered the Pokerstars $33mtt 6:00am est. that attracted 217 players. I worked up to being the chipleader while we were down to 3-tables. I managed to keep that lead up until we were down to the last 12 remaining. I ran into 99 while having AK on the button. We get aipf and I fail to improve. So I take a huge hit, going from chipleader to 8 of 12. I manage to stay afloat and make the final table being 6 of 9.

Few hands go by and I’m 7 of 8 with 12k and blinds being 1/2k. A guy in EP limps and I pick up 55 on the button. I shove BB (cl) shoves and limper folds. BB obv has KK, but I river a 5 to save my tourney life! So now i’m 4 of 8 with about 27k. I go on a huge card rush within the next 3 orbitz and started busting people. Being 4-handed I had about 200k and almost a 3:1 CL on everyone at the table. I eliminated two more players while 4-handed and found myself with a commanding CL while HU. I had about 300k ish and other player had about 20k. He wanted to deal, so I was like sure. I gave him $40 more than 2nd pays and I ended up taking him out a few hands later. Ship jcashx36x his first W, Weeeeeeeee! It feels soo good to know that the hard work you put in does pay off at times. If things dont work out early, you just gots to keep at it, and you’ll succeed in the long run.

February Plans:
- Keep playing the same tournies.
- Play solo in the 4.40 challenge.
- Play and improve in 45man sngs.

Notes:
- Keep a positive mind, stay within BR.
- Dont play tilted.
- Always room for improvement

So thats my rundown of how I closed January, hoping to carry the momentum into February. Goodluck at the tables everyone and thanks for reading.

Aloha,
jC

Howziit!!

When I joined TH.com and their bloggier community, I told myself that I wanted to do updates on my blog frequently. Mainly to keep myself on track and in line in my poker aspirations; also to refresh the minds of my fellow bloggers that continue to choose and follow our ups and downs. So with that said, I’ll provide the readers with a week in review as we kick of 2008.

For starters, in 2007 I accumulated a total of $14k in prizes and a very weak 5% ROI. I’m not proud of that one bit. As we’ve entered 2008 I’m looking to change those statistics drastically.

So basically in the first week of the new year I’m very fortunate to say that I’ve been running pretty good. I’ve had 4 final table appearances with two 2nd place finishes. Mann I wish I could of took one of these bad boys down. It would mean more of an accomplishment for me, to know that I’m playing well enough to win tournaments and log the W. But hey 2nd is not too shabby and i cant complain about that. With the four final table cashes this week I’ve already accumulated around 30% of my cashes from 07′ hopefully I can enjoy this for a bit before the downswing occurs and the doomswitch turns on. One thing I do know is that variance sucks ass. That is all for now, please stay tuned later this month for more updates.

Goodluck on the felt gentlemen and thanks for visiting.
ALoha,
jC

Okay so I just want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and wish you all to have a safe, healthy, profitable, good, etc, etc.. in 2008.

Two-thousand seven was my first year playing MTTs/SNGs primarily on a daily basis. I feel like I could of done a lot better but oh well, thats just how the cards burn. Overall i had a less than 10% ROI, hopefully i can take my experiences and learn from them to make 2008 a better one.

I also decided to challenge myself with a $25Bi at $25nl and see if i can build from (that) one buy in. I’ll keep all of ya’ll posted. Basically grind $25nl until i can turn that $25 into $1k.

I’ll try to keep this blog updated as much as possible. Probably at most 3x a month, but we’ll see how things go. goodluck at the tables everyone.

aloha,
jC

Aloha all,

My name is jC and i’m 23 years old from the small island of Oahu, trying to make a name for myself in the online poker world. Upon reading other bloggers posts, I feel that there’s a good bunch of people here in this blogger community and being the amateur that I am, I’m more than willing to put myself out there and soak up all that I can from you guys to help me become a better poker player. And in return, I hope I can return the favor to my fellow bloggers somewhere down the line. I’m also a member of FCP (Full Contact Poker). Been a member since July 06 so hit me up and drop a line.

You can find me on the everyday grind. I primarily play on Pokerstars under the handle jcashx36x and I’m also trying slowly to put in a few sessions here and there on Full Tilt Poker under jcashx36x as well. I normally play SNGs, but I also like playing MTTs. Due to my new work schedule that was effected in Nov 07, I cant find the time to put in much MTT play. When I do find the time, I try to take advantage of it and get a few in.

Thanks for taking the time to read my first post and I definitely will be posting here to keep you folks updated. Goodluck at the tables and I look forward to our blogging future together here at TH.com

aloha,
jC
