Well it has been quite a while since my last post and there is good reason. I have been running good. So good that I figured blogging was having a negative reaction on my play…. Okay im just kididng, I have been busy. Basically I have been playing a lot of hours between work (yes I have a full time job) and social activities. Before I get to the poker results let me catch you up on my last week. I took a flight Monday morning around 8am to Denver, CO from Chicago. this was my first trip to Denver and its just wonderful. I flew to have lunch with a good friend of mine, Denny. Following lunch I hopped another flight to Phoenix, AZ for dinner with my boss and a large client I have there. Dinner was EXPENSIVE. Now I am not a wine drinker but tonight I had to and it was 200 bucks a bottle! What happend to my 8 dollar Bud Light? GESH. Anyway the remainder of my week was spent in Chicago. It looks like I am heading to Indianapolis this weekend against my will but I was asked to visit some friends. How dare they take time from my part time poker career ;-). Next week I will spend the entire week in Charolette, SC for work which should be decent. Following that week I get a week in Chicago, followed my 3 days in NY, NY.

Well since I last posted I have been running well. TILT sandwich which was gross inside joke. Anyways I won a 4.40 followed by a second in a 4.40. I don’t know why I play the 4.40 other then its enjoyable for no money at risk and turning 4.40 into 216 is a plus. I should play the 20 dollar but im not as profitable. In the last month I have taken a 17, 33, 37, and I thnk 77 in large MTT’s. I can’t seem to close the door but I think im getting closer. I have plugged a few holes in my game with more to go. I think in the tourny I took 33rd I would have FT but I lost two GIANT pots getting in good and rivered my the demon of mine known as the FLUSH. I can’t complain as thats the game. Just one time please stop putting flushes on the board ;-).

Cash games I ran 4 tables at 100NL and was doing well. I have put the BR up and now am playing 200NL with some great sessions this week. My best table at 200NL was leaving with 750. I took a sneak peak at 400NL for a while and left a 150 winner. I didn’t stay long as I knew I was breaking the promise I made to myself; Bankroll Management. The funny thing is this came right after reading Seth’s post at FCP how be busted his account while drunk. Im a degenerate.

Good Luck

Well I didn’t want to write this blog with this ending but I have no choice. I made a large mistake that cost me my tournament life this evening. I was in the $5 rebuy for $25. I last 6 hours in the event and played flawless. I wont get into details of the tournament but I would like to discuss my final bust-o hand. I pick up pocket tens in late position. Large stack raises to 39,000 and I think for a while and can put him on almost anything as he has raised 30% of hands. I decide to push my stack of 190,000 into the pot hoping for a fold and move on and never think about the hand again. He calls with AKo. Personally I think this is a tough decision. If he had lost his stack would be left with 50k. Not even for an orbit. needless to say he hit his A and K. I should have called the 36k and folded the flop with an K and J showing. Its all hypothetical as I anticipated a fold with no luck. I would have been left with 150K. and the opportunity to push elsewhere. I was playing for a win; atleast a final table. I took 43/2600 so I can’t complain but its just upsetting getting that close but not closing out this MTT. I have taken 1/6000 in a STUD event but never NLH.

As for the rest of my night, I donked off 100 bucks in a 60sng and 2 20sng.

Good luck all. Will I ever close out one of these MTT’s? I would think I have to… I go so deep but can’t finish!

Well I have just wrapped up my night of play. I began with a $10 warmup sit-n-go where I took it down in record time and making no mistakes. I then proceeded to play in the $8.80 tournament where I last 3 hours and built a stack of 17,000 chips and was cruising. I picked up AA in the small blind where it folded to me. I made 3.25 raise where big blind called. The flop came 4J9 which I felt should have been a safe flop for me. I pushed my stack into the big blind who had 300 more chips then I did. He insta-called with J3 offsuit. I was rather shocked by this but was feeling good. 2 fell on the turn and 3 on the river. Bubble for me and rather shocked by the poor play in this situation.

Next I played a $4.40 180 man sit-n-go and took 14th. Made a play with AQ vs 66. not much to say except I didn’t win the race. usually I am more conservative but since only the top 9 places have a scaling pay structure i felt it was now or never.

Next I played the $5 rebuy and was in for $25. I felt I played great for 4 hours until I picked up AK vs. ?? where I made a large laydown forefeiting 45k. I got moved tables with 60K left to my stack. A player went all in with Q6 in a situation that was horrible at best and won. Next hand I get AQ and place a 9K raise, only to get pushed all in by the player who previously had Q6. I think for a while and put him on a huge range of hands. I call, run into AA. GG for 235/2500 and 50 bucks.

Ended the night with a quick cash game and make $15.

Nightly Profit: $68.85
