I went to mohegan sun today around 12 in the afternoon and played for a little under 3 hours. Started off doing well but I got called several times by people who were behind and they hit whatever they needed. I would go into more detail about these hands but I am pretty sure no one other than Seth reads these blogs because he is the only one to respond to not only mine but other peoples posts.

Anyways biggest hand dealt AQ off in middle position and i raise to 16$ get 4 callers….pot is $66.00 on the Q(spades) 9 spades 3 hearts flop it is checked to me with one guy left to act behind me…I bet $60 pretty quickly….he thinks for a minute and raises to $300!….Because i raised preflop the only hands I put him on were KQ, 99, 33, or Q9….MAYBE he has the same hand as I do or he could be on a spade draw or even an open ended straight draw. Sensing weakness from the large size of his bet I came to the conclusion it was most likely that he was semi-bluffing with only a draw. I had him covered and put him all in for 300 on top of his raise he thought for a couple minutes and by then I definitely thought I was ahead….but nopeee he calls with Q3 and the turn is a 10…river ACE and BOOM i win an approximately $1400 pot with two pair. I went on to win 5 or 6 more decent pots before getting up with $2000 (i was in for $500)….not bad for 3 hours at the smallest limit in live NL poker.

I guess I was wrong…I did not have a slight edge he had me covered by $9….I was close though. This could be the luckiest hand I have had since I started playing poker….not necessarily the size of the pot but that I wouldnt have been able to play the tournament without winning this hand because 80% of my BR was on the table at this point.

Ok going back to the first entry I made there were a couple things I wanted to clarify because after reading over it I realized some things were out of place or just didnt make complete sense.

First thing is that when I drink more than I should I will gamble more money than I know I should ($1000 on blackjack, roulette, etc…) So part of me being broke was the fact that 3 or 4 times at the casino pretty much wiped me out. I would grind it at 1/2 or 2/5 downstairs at the Woods for 4-8 hours make a profit of anywhere from $500-1500 then go upstairs and lose it in five or ten minutes. I know I know it is so easy to say you are a fuckin moron why would anyone ever give the house money because that is essentially what you are doing. I do not enjoy playing table games…unless it is for small stakes which it never ends up staying small for long when I play….I am only playing them for a quick chance to double up which rarely happens especially when i put shitloads of money down. So basically I cause myself great amounts of stress when I lose at these games. The good news is that I have promised myself I will not step foot in the pit and I have yet to place a bet….its something that was not a problem at first but once i had a cold run of cards I thought it would be a quick fix…which it wasnt. It is easy to stay away when you are playing good Poker….but when you arent that is when I have to resist the urge for a quick double up.

Ok that was long but you get the idea. I have shown a steady profit playing live cash games and I know that I can continue to win when I stay focused and not drink/smoke too much.

The tourny that I won online was for nearly 20k (Stars sn = Du1chmaster www.offficialpokerrankings.com). That was on February 8th. Previous to that I had no money to my name, with a credit card that was over its limit and I was 3 weeks late on my rent as well as every other bill….i was in debt more than i will say….pretty bad. So i borrow $100 from a friend on thursday….put it online with the intent of playing the Sunday Million..grind it up to 300 by Sunday but didnt want to buy in directly even with enough so being an idiot I sat down at a $1/2 NL Heads Up cash game and take $115 from the guy at first so he reloads now i have $315 to his $200….we go back and forth for a little….he probably gets back up to where we both have nearly even stacks I had a slight edge and we get it all in preflop. I had KK and he had been raising nearly every hand so I thought I was good….turns out he has AA i hit a K on the river for the $516 pot and BOOM my luck changes. Later in the afternoon I decide the sunday million field is way too large, so i try my luck in the $50+5 25k Guaranteed with 2200 people i get down to heads up and i took a chip chop with the lead. Not bad for someone who couldnt even afford lunch earlier in the day.

Anyway I am not sure the point i guess that is kind of a brag post but it isnt meant to be. It is meant to give hope to all degenerate gamblers out there, anyone still searching for the chance to be a big winner. I hope that one day I can play some of the biggest cash games in the world, but until then $2/5 is good with me.

Hello everyone my name is Du1chmaster and i play online at Pokerstars in whatever action i feel like getting at as well as alot of live cash games and tournaments. I recently had a large MTT win on Pstars which has somewhat motivated me to pursue poker as a careeer for the near future. I am 22 years old and live in Rhode Island….only important because I live 45 minutes from Foxwoods and 1 hour from Mohegan Sun which recently started offering 8-12 PokerPro (www.PokerTek.com) tables. There are ups and downs to this computerized version of poker (ie. i like to see the cards physically being dealt, holding chips etc…) but the play is so much softer at Mohegan that it is impossible to say no.

They have small buy in sit and gos ($60 and up) but the payouts are not really worth grindin out the tournament when you could make double or triple in the same amount of time in a $1/2 NL cash games that they have running. I was playing as supplemental income until 2 or 2.5 months ago when i lost my job as a server at a decent restaurant at which point either i started playing really bad or a combination of that and cold cards or variance however you want to put it. I have devoted the past few weeks to fixing leaks in my cash game and trying to figure out when it is time to move up from $1/2 and $2/5 to $5/10 or higher and whether it is worth it or even possible. I could be completely outclassed at Foxwoods so any input from people who play there would be great. I have a sample of my sessions from the past 2 weeks to give you an idea.
