Hello.
Reached a pretty fun goal today, namely get unstuck from my downswing. Last 30k hands, which is basically the last 2.5 months. Weeeee.

Tomorrow morning Kristen and I are leaving to LA for the weekend, so this is gonna about wrap up my month. While not quite a great month on the tables, life was good and that’s counts. Kristen is running her marathon on Sunday and then we are going to Disneyland on Monday, on a Labor Day weekend I expect both to be packed.
Last couple of days have been good to me. While I actually didn’t run that much over EV overall, still it is nice when I get to mix in a couple of these type of hands in every once-in-awhile.

This is what my month looked like over all, less then 9k hands is really sad though:
On another note, my friend who I was staking recently shipped me back all the money in his account. He had a couple of bad days, and just needed to stop for awhile after he was upset with himself for tilting off money. He sent back roughly the same amount as the starting stake, so while it sucks we didn’t really make much profit overall, I would rather he get his head straight first anyways. Hopefully something will work out in the future.
I have already called September to be the month of the Zach, so it is all over starting right when I get back. I am shooting at 30,000 hands and $10k profit. Won’t be easy, but hey it’s MY month.
I also got back the pictures from the wedding, which I was going to post, but Photoshop just crashed when I was resizing them. And because I have to get up tomorrow at 5am, looks like they’ll have to wait till I get back.
Up and down day today. Because I can’t look at my poker tracker I really have no idea where I finished for the day, but my guess is it was somewhere between -200 and +400. I am just gonna break up my hands into bad beats and lol hands.
Good stuff:

Bad stuff:
This guy had $23 and then left with $200 7 hands later, next 3 hands and then one more double up I forgot to save.

Tomorrow is more poker and disc golf.
Hello.
My guess is this blog is gonna turn out pretty long with little poker content, so I’m not going be offended if you just wanna skip over it. I’ll write another blog about poker tonight or tomorrow.
Got back from Napa Sunday evening from our honeymoon. It was a fun trip. We left Thursday morning and got into the city pretty early. The Spa that we stayed at was built pretty recently and located right outside of the actual city. It was interesting because everything about it was very ‘green’ as in environmental friendly. In the lobby they had monitors all over showing exactly how much carbon/energy/utilities they were using at all times. The parking lot had spaces reserved for low emission vehicles where usually you would see handicap parking and just a bunch of other things like that all over. I like how they roll in Northern California.
We relaxed a bit and then went out to a Spanish Tapa’s restaurant recommended by a friend, Zuzu’s. I really love these kinda places because you get to try so many different dishes, you leave feeling like you really got to try the whole menu. It was quite good, and I would put it in the top 5 of the 5 or 6 Tapa restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. Hehe, the truth is they have all been quite good and the atmosphere always makes them a great place to enjoy a meal. The highlight of the meal was a Cod dish, which was severed in a mash potatoes like consistency which was then to be spread over toasted bread. I don’t think I had ever eaten anything with a similar texture, but I enjoyed it.
The next day we got up went out to breakfast then had an appointment for a massage. I had never had a professional massage before, but I obviously enjoyed it. Kristen’s masseuse had a European accent, so I am sure he was good too. Oh, and afterwards the shower they had there to wash up had a giant overhead ‘rain’ spout hanging from the ceiling, then a dozen little showerheads shooting out from the walls. Best shower ever. I need to get one of those setups in my home.
After that, we headed up to all the vineyards to go wine tasting. We tried some really good stuff that even Kristen seemed to like. Then picked up some cheese and meat from the deli and had a nice picnic. Over the next two days we hit up a couple more winery’s, visited a really cool castle this guy built for like $30 million, and ate a bunch of really good food.
On the last night it was actually really funny. We went out to a Sushi restaurant, which was really good. They had a whole bunch of special sushi roll creations that all sounded good. Anyways, about halfway through the meal, Hanson’s ‘mmmbop’ comes on the speakers, except the CD seems to be scratched so it was even more annoying then usual. Once it finally finished playing, a Kelly Clarkson song starts to play, again skipping until about halfway through the song the CD suddenly starts over and Hanson begins playing again. We get through that and the Kelly Clarkson song starts to play and then jumps back to Hanson. We go through this about 3 or 4 times, once even getting all the way to Eye of the Tiger before Hanson starts to roll. It was sooo funny, it was the type of thing you would do on purpose to torture POW’s, but everyone working at the restaurant seemed oblivious to the situation.
On the way home, we passed a Fry’s and I impulse bought Kristen a new laptop. Well, I had been saying I’d buy her a new one after the wedding for awhile, so she is happy. For some reason the computer couldn’t connect to the wifi network at home and it took me about 8 hours to figure it out.
Anyways, I think I’m gonna just spend the next week or so putting in a bunch of poker hands, so gl to me.
Been a couple days since my last post and because I’m leaving again tomorrow for a few days, thought it would be a good time to get a blog in.
Getting a couple hands of poker in each of the last 3 days, but no huge wins. Monday, was the most interesting. I started out getting killed all day and just kept running my 2 pair into a flush over and over. I think I actually got a little steamed, I was down like $700-800, which is not the end of the world or anything, but for some reason all of my opponents were just doing really frustrating things. Infact, I think that is what caused this hand:
http://www.pokerhand.org/?3042714 – I think this was really a tilt call. We had been playing awhile and the villain had only 3bet preflop a couple time, every time cbetting pot on every street after. I figured his range here was geared highly to AA-JJ type hands, but I had mucked every time so far. In fact, I had already folded QJ on a Jxxx board on the turn in a very similar spot. I was really surprised when he flipped up just a weak hand and complete air at that. The villain then went on complete monkey tilt after that, and stacked off about 4 buyins in less than 50 hands, making me a slight winner for the day.
The last two days, I have gotten in only small sessions, and have finished a small winner in both. For the most part I am trying not to force anything this month. I have been pretty busy, and I am sorta looking at it like a breather. However, I think next month I am really going to get back to the grind. It will be nice, after a quasi break since my bad run, the wedding over, and Kristen going back to work, I think I’ll really be able to focused and get in a monster month.

Random post wedding thoughts:
-It sucks getting paint crap off cars, spent almost an hour at the gas station cleaning it up. I also did not enjoy having to talk to the onslaught of randoms who all asked, “Oh, you just got married?” No ma’am, I just put this shit on as a good conversation starter. So 34 years? That’s really neat.
- While spending gift card money, I tend to put up a pretty good fight against stuff we don’t need, but after about the 2 hour mark I burn out and go into I don’t care mode. Kristen could use to her benefit if she figures out how to properly master my patience.
-Heading to Napa tomorrow for four days. Should be fun. Hopefully Kristen will be able to appreciate the wine tasting more than taking her fake sips proceeded by disgusted faces.

On a completely different note, I have been watching a lot of the Olympics. It was been really entertaining watching Michael Phelps and the rest of the team crush all the world records. I don’t really have an issue with the whole swim suit and pool conditions controversy; I understand the sport is evolving. However, I am not sure how I feel about all this hype of Phelps and calling him the greatest athlete ever. I mean, the guy is dominating his sport, but is it really that much better at swimming then all the other gold medal winners at the Olympics? I’m not sure. I do know however that they give out medals for swimming like candy. What is the point of the breast stroke or the butterfly or the backstroke… shouldn’t it just be who can get to the other side of the pool first? Not like anybody uses any of those others outside of competition. We could have 30 medals for basketball too. 5 on 5, 1 on 1, free throw contest, 3 point, ect. But for some reason the swimmers, and divers, and rowers get to compete in tons of events each. And I mean, rowing? Do you actually do ANYTHING different if one person, or two, or a dozen people are in the boat?
Anyways I’ll end my rant here. I am not taking anything away from Phelps, in fact he is for sure one of the greatest swimmers ever. But just wanted to put some things in perspective.
We’ll that was fun.
After just shy 5 years, Kristen and I finally tied the knot. The whole event went over really well, and I don’t think we’d change a thing. It was really great to have so many friends and family show up, if not a little overwhelming. In fact, I really enjoyed the rehearsal dinner we had the night before, which was much more relaxed than the actual event which felt a bit more like just a ‘photo opt’.
Last night we stayed in a suite at The Clement, a new hotel in Monterey, which was just amazing. Our room had 2 bathrooms, 2 flat screen TV’s, a huge Jacuzzi tub, the most comfortable King bed ever, and ocean view. There are a bunch of great places to eat in the area, but we were so tired we ended up just ordering in. The actually honeymoon won’t start until next weekend where we are going up to Napa, CA, as Kristen needs to attend teacher meetings for the upcoming school year that start tomorrow.
It’s gonna take me a bit of time to get used to wearing the ring, which I haven’t decided will/should be worn during showering and sleep, but other than that things should be getting back to normal around here. I am really glad it’s finally over, as we had been planning the event for over a year. We also made out pretty good in gifts, gift cards, and cash. Even though we ended up footing most of the bill of the wedding ourselves, it definitely made the total costs a bit easier to swallow.
I also get to play some poker tomorrow, it was nice to get a couple days off, but ready to get back into the swing of things.
