The last few days have been pretty smooth grinding. Enough so that I had nothing really interesting to blog about. Today started out like that too. I won about $600 in 350 hands, and then went to the movies with Kristen. At dinner I was joking around when the waiter came over to check if everything was ok with a pretty sarcastic response that came outta nowhere, and Kristen said I was mean, so I left a really good tip. =)

Anyways, I came home, and because nothing was going on decided to put in another little session. Oops. I played a reg that is historically really bad and just got crushed. Not that he was good.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3353087 – sigh. I think I can get away from any other turn in the deck.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3353085 – me being stupid. I can’t bluff this guy and have no fold equity. However, my shove was supposed to be for value. I REALLY thought he had the flush draw here. I was sorta right. If I made any mistakes in the match it was here. Otherwise I think I played pretty solid.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3353093 – gross in a 4bet pot, but at least I lost the min.

I ground some back, and won some from a couple other donks, but after I got around 200bb’s deep the guy really started to nit it up and it was impossible to get money in the pot. Eventually I just quit him, cause I didn’t think we were gonna play a big pot without a cooler.

Donno what else to say right now. I am gonna go read a bit and then reflect on my match or just put it outta my mind forever. One thing I was really happy with was emotionally I stayed really calm and played well.

After not sleeping forever the other day, it turned out to be pretty difficult to get back to sleep, who woulda thought? I went to bed around 1:30am, read for a bit, but couldn’t fall asleep it shortly after Kristen got up for work. Then I was woken up an hour later when she locked herself out. I easily fall back to sleep cause I am exhausted at this point, when some asshole that I guess does the yardwork around here, started blasting his leaf blower right outside my window. I’ve been woken up by this before, but it was never a huge problem, but for some reason this guy was out there for blowing shit in circles for close to an hour. I was not happy.

I don’t really remember anything else about the last few days, so I’ll just post some hands.

Vs biggest monkey I have played in awhile, one of those guys that is either up 4 digits on you in 10 minutes or donks off his whole roll:

Wow. More ugly stuff. Still not sleeping at all and still not winning poker hands. I ran sooo bad this morning.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3224090 – Don’t think I can ever fold here with a pretty solid kicker. Why he is floating a gutshot, not 100% sure.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3224027 – this is my fault for getting it in so good.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3224161 – Nice hand sir.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3224163 – Very next hand after the deuces. Sigh.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3224176 – Standard set up.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3224165 – This hand is just LOL, vs a complete monkey too. How he managed to lose the minimum here almost tilts me.

I won a little back tonight, but got too tired to continue playing. It was nice to run good for the month while it lasted, but officially under EV now. Sorry about all the ugly stuff hopefully the next blog I’m not complaining.

Last few days have been really strange. I have been spending quite a bit of time playing Chinese poker and Big 2 online with the FCP crew. Well a couple days we played a marathon session for like 9 hours straight and by the time it was done it was basically too late to go to sleep around 7 or 8am. I decided to just pull an all nighter to get things back on track, but am like 0-27 on that now. It just never works out. I stayed up like 36 hours, then only slept for 6 or 7 and everything gets messed up. So basically it worked out so I woke up at 12:00am yesterday and 7pm today.

The nice thing about waking up at the butt crack of dawn is there are really no distractions and I was able to play a lot of hands of poker. The downside is I couldn’t win hands of poker. I just got destroyed ending up stuck about 7 buyins at my lowest point, while running just over -$1,000 under EV.

Here are the more interesting hands I lost and a graph:

It is 5am right now, so I am gonna see if I can go try to fall asleep and maybe get up for the football game tomorrow. I donno why pulling an all-nighter sounds better than just waking up early one time, but it is sooo much more difficult in the long run. I need to stop doing this.

Ok so poker.

Yesterday was my first session in about a week, it was good to have the time off and I came in really focused and ready to play. -$1300 later, I was a bit crushed. I wasn’t really getting bad beats either, just one of those days where I couldn’t win a hand and the better my hand was at the end correlated with the amount of money I lost. I also lost one of the sickest pots I have ever lost, but I’ll get to that in a sec. I actually don’t think I played my best the whole time, but I didn’t play -6.5 buyins bad either.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3069595 – First hand of the day, I suppose I should just stop there next time. This is obviously just of a flip, but my range has him soooo crush. Oh well this is how we make money in poker… hypothetically.

Then I played a couple hands vs another guy that were both pretty interesting. The guy had already showed he was quite the station calling down 3 barrels with second pair.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3069783 – On the river he paused a bit before checking and my spidey senses went off. I honestly thought about just checking behind for that reason. Either way, this hand is 100% bet/fold, my plan was to bet and then fold to his shove, however he opted to put out a small raise and I donked off my chips with a call. He is just not capable of a bluff here and I already was weary of his hand.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3069797 – A bit later, I think I like my line here, sucks he showed up with the hand he did (which he played awfully). It is a pretty thin value spot on the river, but the more I look at it the more I like it.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3072601 – Alright, there is no content here. Just a sick beat. Sick sick sick beat. This is a VERY hard pot to lose. Top 5 life time for sure.

There were some more standard hands too, but not a lot went my way. Anyways, today started off well when the first guy to sit down was one of the worst players I have ever played. Here are some great examples of what never to do while playing poker:

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3074750

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3074762

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3074791

None of them huge pots, but a good way to start the day. Then we got back on our usual downhill slide.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3075845 – This guy was a crazy maniac 3betting a ton. Sucks so hard when you flop coolers vs a guy like this sooo ready to stack off.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3075855 – I am not sure how interesting this hand is, he would donk at any pot I did not cbet, so I had already decided to check behind on the next flop I hit. But it probably doesn’t even matter because he was so aggressive that we probably coulda got this in on the flop anyways. Except this way I get my money in drawing dead!

Then I played agilitybob. Wow this guy was sooo bad and would call ANY 3bet and 4bet. He also 3bet quite a bit himself, so I started off making this play at a pot:

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3075926 – It worked, but looking back I am not sure how much I love it.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3076004 –I usually to not flat 3bets with K8o but he was literally 3betting 50% of hands. Nice shove sir.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3076043 – Hey I won a hand! Nice call pf.

LOL this guy was soooo bad, but ended up like 3.5 buyins. A couple more coolerish hands like AQ>Q8 on Q8x flop, but I forgot to import into pokerhand.org, which I can’t look up now because of a deal I made with a friend (Jay) that I wouldn’t look at any graphs or my pokertracker database for the next week. I did this once before and had good results, so hopefully we can do it again. I actually made a little bit back tonight, but not sure where I am at on the day. A downswing like this is really no fun, but I imagine it has to end at some point, right?

I am trying to be a bit aggressive at getting things back on track. Along with the deal I made with Jay about not looking at results, I am also gonna try just one tabling and focusing on my play. I am also considering hooking up with a coach on HUNL. I have worked with a coach before and it is great to work on your game with a big winner. So hopefully I can figure something out on that end too.

The beats continued to tonight, but moved away from coolers to striaght up bad beats.

Lost all those in about a 50 hand span, plus a couple standard coin flips like 99<AK aipf.  -$1,500 on the day.  Back to negivitve for the month.  Opps.

Just got rolled in a session.  It was actually pretty funny.  This guy sat down and was just awful, over the course of our session of 48 total hands before he hit and ran me (does it count as a hit and run if he stayed around x number of hands after his first double up?) he ran at 71/14.

Just so you get an understanding of this guys donkishness:

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3006232 - here is how he lost his first buyin (40bb’s), then rebought.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3006237 - oh, and now we know he is a station too.

Alright now to the fun stuff:

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3006278 - donk bets are generally pretty weak, but I give a little more respect to a players first one and pot size bets.  Also, because this flop is so  coordinated, even if I raises, it might be difficult to get him off a hand, and I am not really looking to play for stacks here.  I think the rest of the hand plays its self.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3006247 - I am pretty sure this is standard all the way through, even if I didn’t turn the 9, I’m not sure if I can really fold here.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3006269 - more coolerments, when he shoved the river I was sure he had AJ, but 3’s were a fun suprise.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3006313 - this is the closest I think I got to a spew, on paper I am sure it is. But he had already donked out two pair and slow played all his other big hands, so what is he really repping here? Plus he insta potted each street, which IMO tends to be pretty weak.  If I call the turn, it is because I am playing on calling the river.  I guess it could be a fold, I am not really sure.

He left right after this hand, so meh.  If you are looking for money, search styopan on FTP, but I’d hurry I doubt it’s gonna be aorund long.

Other then that I played a couple of guys, one of which was really funny also.  This guy had trouble working the software and couldn’t figure out how to post his blind.  Anyways, in no way am I bitching here, I thought this hand was generally funny, it is a 3 part set up.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3006572 - he min 3bets AA

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3006577 - he min 3bets QQ, then min donks down

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3006433 - alright now the funny spot, I KNOW I can’t be good here. Can I ever fold this? 17-1?  Whatever the answer is $2 was worth the laugh.

Even though this session just finished up, I am still in good spirits, which is good.  My mental attitude towards poker I think is in top shape and I don’t really ever tilt (K8o hand?) or get too upset.  I guess if you have run like I have a few times (which everyone does eventually), you either need to be able to handle it well or get out of this business.

Need to take care of some wedding errons, pick up tux, wash car, pay remaining balances, ect, so I donno if I’ll get that many more hands in until next week sometime.

-Zach
