Ok so poker.
Yesterday was my first session in about a week, it was good to have the time off and I came in really focused and ready to play. -$1300 later, I was a bit crushed. I wasn’t really getting bad beats either, just one of those days where I couldn’t win a hand and the better my hand was at the end correlated with the amount of money I lost. I also lost one of the sickest pots I have ever lost, but I’ll get to that in a sec. I actually don’t think I played my best the whole time, but I didn’t play -6.5 buyins bad either.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?3069595 – First hand of the day, I suppose I should just stop there next time. This is obviously just of a flip, but my range has him soooo crush. Oh well this is how we make money in poker… hypothetically.
Then I played a couple hands vs another guy that were both pretty interesting. The guy had already showed he was quite the station calling down 3 barrels with second pair.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?3069783 – On the river he paused a bit before checking and my spidey senses went off. I honestly thought about just checking behind for that reason. Either way, this hand is 100% bet/fold, my plan was to bet and then fold to his shove, however he opted to put out a small raise and I donked off my chips with a call. He is just not capable of a bluff here and I already was weary of his hand.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?3069797 – A bit later, I think I like my line here, sucks he showed up with the hand he did (which he played awfully). It is a pretty thin value spot on the river, but the more I look at it the more I like it.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?3072601 – Alright, there is no content here. Just a sick beat. Sick sick sick beat. This is a VERY hard pot to lose. Top 5 life time for sure.
There were some more standard hands too, but not a lot went my way. Anyways, today started off well when the first guy to sit down was one of the worst players I have ever played. Here are some great examples of what never to do while playing poker:

None of them huge pots, but a good way to start the day. Then we got back on our usual downhill slide.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?3075845 – This guy was a crazy maniac 3betting a ton. Sucks so hard when you flop coolers vs a guy like this sooo ready to stack off.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?3075855 – I am not sure how interesting this hand is, he would donk at any pot I did not cbet, so I had already decided to check behind on the next flop I hit. But it probably doesn’t even matter because he was so aggressive that we probably coulda got this in on the flop anyways. Except this way I get my money in drawing dead!
Then I played agilitybob. Wow this guy was sooo bad and would call ANY 3bet and 4bet. He also 3bet quite a bit himself, so I started off making this play at a pot:
http://www.pokerhand.org/?3075926 – It worked, but looking back I am not sure how much I love it.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?3076004 –I usually to not flat 3bets with K8o but he was literally 3betting 50% of hands. Nice shove sir.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?3076043 – Hey I won a hand! Nice call pf.
LOL this guy was soooo bad, but ended up like 3.5 buyins. A couple more coolerish hands like AQ>Q8 on Q8x flop, but I forgot to import into pokerhand.org, which I can’t look up now because of a deal I made with a friend (Jay) that I wouldn’t look at any graphs or my pokertracker database for the next week. I did this once before and had good results, so hopefully we can do it again. I actually made a little bit back tonight, but not sure where I am at on the day. A downswing like this is really no fun, but I imagine it has to end at some point, right?
I am trying to be a bit aggressive at getting things back on track. Along with the deal I made with Jay about not looking at results, I am also gonna try just one tabling and focusing on my play. I am also considering hooking up with a coach on HUNL. I have worked with a coach before and it is great to work on your game with a big winner. So hopefully I can figure something out on that end too.
